FFN Award Event 2009
The Award Event took place on Friday, March 20, 2009 in Burgers' Zoo (www.burgerszoo.nl) in the Netherlands.
In the morning, from 10am till 1230pm various highly interesting lectures were given by:
-
Wouter Veening, Director of the Institute for Environmental Security;
-
Albert de Haan, Director of Carbon Rooster Advisory Services (also founder and former Director of ECX, European Climate Exchange).
-
Dr. Marielos Pena-Claros, former Executive Director of the Bolivian Forest Research Institute, currently researcher at the Forest Ecology and Forest Management Group, Wageningen University.
A group of students and other interested people attended the morning symposium. After the symposium, a lunch was offered by Burgers' Zoo. Those who attended the symposium, as well as the visitors for the afternoon event, partook in the lunch.
After lunch, the event which we had all been waiting for eventually began: the awarding of the Future for Nature Award Event 2009! The three winners were announced to the public and attending media. They gave presentations regarding their work, and received the Award from the hands of the world-famous Sir David Attenborough.
After the Award ceremony, drinks were served by Burgers' Zoo, and we all had a chance to meet up, get to know the winners, and catch up with old friends. The drinks were accompanied by live music from Mali, performed by Zou Diarra.
